The theme for Indigenous Peoples’ Day 2020 is Indigenous Peoples’ Week: 7 Sacred Days for All My Relations.
In a time of discord and destruction, the goal of this dynamic storytelling experience is to uplift creation, unity, and Indigenous/Black solidarity. The main objective of this week-long celebration is community healing.
The workshops hosted by the Aadizookaan during Indigenous Peoples’ Week will achieve this objective by: teaching ways of decolonizing the land and spirit through land defense, offering tools for language revitalization and reaching the ancient future, and providing space for creation in a time of destruction.
Participants will co-create opportunities for emotional, physical, and mental healing through movement, music, and sacred storytelling.
In this act of co-liberation we will build community through education and grassroots connections while uplifting celebration through food, music, film, dance, and prayers.
